My Christmas Presents - Part Three

I love my pear watch/necklace from my sister Paula.  It doesn't take too long in my house to notice that I have a thing for pears. It stems (no pun intended) from an anecdote told to me years ago by my friend, Joanie. She was telling me about a woman who lived in the midwest and had a small pear tree filled with pears. A tornado came and devastated everything around, but her pear tree miraculously still had its pears. No leaves, but lots of pears. The tree was hanging on to that which it was made to create - pears. So the woman took that idea as her mantra - no matter what winds blow in your life, hang on to your pears! Hang on to that which is important, whatever you would consider the fruit of your life. Whatever is your reason for being.  Whatever is revitalizing.  Let the leaves go. But hang on to your pears.

My pear necklace is yet another reminder of what it's all about. Thanks, P.

Here are some other pear gifts from the past....

The designs on these tiny bowls were done by Claire.

This vase was from my sister Nancy.

This was a present to me from me. It's a painting by Claire's teacher and friend, Nick Jainschigg, as part of the "a-painting-a-day" program. 365 paintings in 365 days. (They're not all of pears...)  Click here for his website if you're interested in seeing more "a-painting-a-day" pieces.

And for a little pear humor, this is from my lovely friend, Debra Carr.
